A way to solve Twitter delete issue for old “leftover” retweets and Twitter likes

However, In some rare cases, you may not able to delete a few leftover retweets or Twitter likes by using 3rd party tools, or even by using the Twitter app itself. And we’re getting some questions like the below following from our Circleboomers.
- Why can’t I unretweet old tweets?
- Why some of my retweets and Twitter likes can’t be deleted from my timeline and They are still seen on my Twitter timeline feed?
- Why my retweet button and my like heart button is gray and won’t let me unretweet and unlike it?
The sole purpose of this blog post is to specifically explain how you can delete leftover retweets or Twitter likes. Somehow, Twitter doesn’t permit you delete some old Retweets or Twitter likes even in your Twitter app as well. The retweet and Twitter like buttons are shown in gray, you can’t click on them.
The main reason behind this issue is that Twitter’s back-end systems run on a distributed cluster of decomposed services. There are often cases where data sets will need to resynchronize between instances and data centers. Which means, all the user data moves between server-farms all the time, and some data servers may update later than others.

Here is 4-easy-steps to delete leftover old retweets and Twitter likes by using Tweetdeck:
Step-1: Connect to Tweetdeck with your Twitter account.
Step-2: Select your Twitter timeline feed:
Step-3: Click the three dots to open an expanded options menu
Step-4: Click “Undo Retweet”. This last step will successfully remove old (leftover) retweets from your timeline.
If you want to remove your old (leftover) Twitter likes do the same. Just click the red heart instead of the three dots.
We know it’s weird, but this is the only way to delete leftovers we could find 🤷
